COVID-19 Statement

We seem to have found ourselves in an ever changing situation over the last few weeks in regarding COVID-19 (CoronaVirus 2019) and so I wanted to provide more information for all our customers. Below is an outline of our plan and policy, as it currently stands.

Update 23rd March 2020

As you have have seen on my previous update, as of last Saturday the studio has been temporarily closed as my family was under self isolation. This was due to end this Saturday 28th March however so much has changed during these uncertain times that this now does not seem possible. The safety and health of my family and customers is the most important thing to me.

Therefore Paredes Photography is now closed for photography experiences until further notice!

My past clients and those who know me, know how much I love what I do. I frequently say how lucky I am to be doing a job that I love and that brings so much joy to others. However, just because I can’t photograph you and your family, it doesn’t mean I can’t still entertain you virtually though social media. I mentioned in my latest video that I’ll be starting competitions and sharing activities to do with your kids. As a father of a 5 year old, I know how much you’ll need some ideas of how to keep the family entertained so I’ll be doing my best to help. Make sure you “like” and follow my Facebook page to keep seeing what I come up with.

So although we will effectively be physically closed, I won’t be sitting on my hands. Like many of you, I have a massive to-do list for both business and personal so I’ll be using this extra time to work through this. I’ll be doing online training, marketing plans, website changes on the business side and then decorating and jobs around the house on the personal side. I urge you to do the same and take the positive from this situation which is we have the gift of time. And of course above all I’ll be looking forward to spending time with my family.

Finally I would like to thank you all for the messages of support over the last week and ask that you keep “loving” and sharing my posts so others can benefit from these social interactions over the coming weeks.

Updated 16th March 2020

This evening the Prime Minister has told us the latest government advice which is as follows:

"Now is the time for everyone to stop non-essential contact with others and to stop all unnecessary travel," the prime minister says.

Here are some key points:

Anyone who lives with someone who has a cough or a temperature should stay at home for 14 days

People should start working from home where they possibly can

Avoid pubs, clubs, theatres and other such social venues

Only use the NHS when we really need to

From tomorrow government will no longer be "supporting" mass gatherings using emergency workers

Unfortunately this means that the studio has to temporarily close as my little girl started with a cough on Saturday evening. Therefore as stands, the studio will reopen on Saturday 28th March.

I will continue to monitor the situation and of course follow the government advice as we receive it. Any more updates will be added to this page.

I thank you for your understanding and wishing you and your family the best of health during this uncertain time.

All the best, Pete

Updated 14th March 2020

I am closely monitoring updates from the UK Government, Public Health England and the World Health Organization regarding COVID-19. At the end of the day, we are a professional studio and therefore the wellbeing of my clients is always a priority for me.

The nature of my work puts me around many different people. I have (and continue to operate) a very high standard of hygiene both at our studio and while on location. We don’t have hand sanitation stations because I can’t get hold of any. But there is soap and water in the toilets and I would encourage you to use them on arrival to the studio. I will change the hand towel in the toilets, wipe surfaces, door handles etc with disinfectant wipes before and after any shoot.

Whilst many people may get it and experience a form of flu and recover, it’s all about those less able to fight the virus. I also need to take into account the health of my family as my wife has an auto immune condition so I would ask that you contact me to reschedule if you or anyone in your party feels unwell. The current NHS guidelines state the following:

Stay at home for 7 days if you have either:

a high temperature – you feel hot to touch on your chest or back

a new, continuous cough – this means you've started coughing repeatedly

The studio will remain open as long as possible. It is not a high traffic area as all our visits are by appointment only, so hopefully I can minimize any risks easily and continue to provide a safe environment for an enjoyable and productive shoot even in this difficult time. You will of course get the usual warm welcome but instead of the usual hugs and handshakes, we will now just go for a wave or elbow bump (which I recently learned is called a Butchers handshake! :P)

If I find I have any of the symptoms, I will of course “self isolate” and close the doors to the studio until the 7 days has passed… good chance to catch up with some box sets I guess ;) I will update my clients directly and through social media. Similarly if we move into a lockdown situation then shoots can be rescheduled until the problem runs its course.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support during this difficult times. Be assured that your photography experience with me will always be professional and above all fun for you and your whole family.

All the best, Pete
